My passion for old wooden boxes.
If it's wooden and old, I love it!
Barefoot in the grass!
There is nothing better than getting up early in the morning, grabbing a cup of coffee and walking outside in my jammies with barefeet. This is my favorite part of everyday. Fortunately, I live where no one can see me in my jammies unless I go in the front yard. And, sometimes I do!!!! I am covered and who cares if my hair is combed :-) Bending down and pulling a weed, examining a new bloom or just smelling the flowers or herbs awakens my senses!!! I love herb gardens. While living in Arizona for almost 20 years, every spring I would try to find the right herb to withstand the summer heat. Couldn't find it and would get so sad when they died. Now that I am back in my hometown in the midwest, I have almost every species of herbs that I can find. I love to study the originality and purpose of the herb. I have herbs that can quiet a migraine, stop a bite from itching, not to mention, making my speciality dinners taste even better. I am learning the hard way, which herbs spread way to fast and which need to be planted alone. But, that is part of the learning process and I appreciate every little green sprout that I look at every morning. If it is raining, I am still outside looking at my herbs.

My fondness for all things old.
I am a firm believer that what we love reflects who we are and how we treat others. I love collecting all old boxes, tins, furniture, lamps and my fondness for crows has grown immensely. I have always been a bird lover and have many memories of feeding birds and watching them eat whererever I have lived. I currently have six bird feeders that I keep full for my little winged friends.

A Passion for old Wooden Boxes
I am not sure where this passion began or when for that matter. It seems to have been with me for many years. I have boxes that I have had for around 25 years. No matter how old or decrepit, that are very special to me. I scour garage sales, flea markets and fun "junk" stores for one that calls my name. They serve many purposes in my home: A small one for keeping remotes, a larger one as a coffee table, a tiny one for holding soap and lotion in my bathroom and the list goes on. I think you understand that if the box is old and wooden, I will find a purpose for it.

About Me
- Primitivelover:
- I have been a collector of primitives for many years. I think it all started with antiques and old itemst that my grandmother had. I used to love to go to her house and search in her big house for all of the little items that I loved playing with. I did not play with toys; but, with her buttons and her handkerchieves. They were starched, ironed perfectly and folded professionally. They smelled so clean and fresh. I would go to her old antique sewing machine and open all of the little drawers to see what treasures were inside. She had two bedrooms upstairs that were so full of treasures such as old dressers with mirrors and large chest of drawers that were filled to the brim with fresh linens and just opening the drawers gave me the great feeling of calmness and peace. My grandma had the freshest smelling laundry ever. Her house was just immaculate and always smelled "clean". To this day, when I see an apron, I think of my Grandma, Ila May. Isn't that a pretty name?
Sittin' in the old swing humming a tune.

Since a child, I have always loved clotheslines. I loved hanging clothes on them, I loved putting two large b lankets together to form a tent and I loved walking by them and smelling the laundry as it dried.
Many times in my life I have not had the advantage of a washer and dryer. Washers are much harder to do without than dryers. After all, nature is the best dryer we have, if it cooperates. And, hanging clothes in a dark, damp basement in the middle of winter or on a stormy day, while serves the purpose, does not make clothes smell good! The most perfect day for hanging out your laundry is about 75 degrees with a breeze than whips your sheets around and makes that lovely sound! I just took my sheets off the line five minutes ago and I look forward to crawling into a fresh bed tonight with the smell of the outdoors mingled with the lavender soap. Sweet dreams.
